Many years ago a wagon driver from the West Midlands was delivering in Pudsey when he ran out of hours and had to stay the night.
Retiring to the nearest pub which was the Commercial he was befriended by Ian Elliot and decided Pudsey was the place for him.
He formed a band and took up acting, his name David J Nicholls.
His credits include roles in The New Avengers, G.B.H, Band of Gold, Coogan’s Run, The Governor, Ivanhoe, Wycliffe, The Bill, Queer as Folk, City Central, Heartbeat, New Tricks and The Visit, along with the films Muppet Treasure Island, Gladiator, Highlander: Endgame, Crush and Gangs of New York.
Dave returned to Pudsey in the the cellar of TFB’s with Adam Hobson the idea for Rags to Riches was born.
Unfortunately Dave died 2 months later from Mesothelioma, more than forty years after being exposed to asbestos at the factory, he passed away on 23rd June 2008, aged 58

Adam always wanted to complete the idea of Rags to Riches and when a company called CameraKit run by Dave Archibold moved into a unit near Adam’s business they soon became friends.
Dave had experience of professional video kit and Adam had the idea and the rest is history.
